That… that was strange.
Shortly after the last blog entry, I discovered that Steve, Matt, Ant, Travis and someone whose name I’ve now forgotten (sorry!) were out drinking in the Hog’s Head. I decide to go and join them, and realise they’ve been drinking for about 5 hours and are pissed as something very pissed indeed. After a while there we went to get food from Subway, and while we were there Travis fell over and kinda’ blacked out for a while, and meanwhile a tramp came in and tried to nick my half-eaten sandwich.
Once we’d finally gotten back to the flat, we spent about half an hour standing outside in the cold talking to some girls from (I think) flat 9. I’ve had it confirmed to me once again that people’s natural reaction is to think of me as a pet - which, to be honest, I guess I’m okay with ^_^; Also, for reasons I still don’t fully understand, I’m now in posession of a baseball cap signed by Timmy Mallet. Apparently I reminded one of the flat 9 people of someone, so she thought I should have this hat. Er… I don’t know whether I should be honoured or deeply embarassed…
Well, despite only starting my revision three hours before the test, I got the highest mark that I’m aware of anyone getting, which is pretty good going ^_^; Also by lunchtime today I was feeling really rather good, and I got a lot of work out of the way, which means I’ve really got minimal amounts to do tonight or tomorrow morning.
Programming labs this afternoon were amusing as always, and I finished today’s work in about an hour while chatting on IRC and MSN and helping other people with their lab work at the same time. Speaking of MSN, one of the people I was chatting to (Ike) pasted me this as a sample of his Science schoolwork… This made me despair - is there really any point teaching people about Catastrophism? Do people still believe in it? o_O
Now remember what you learned in the previous module. Many catastrophists believe that the rocks you see in the geological record belong to four distinct groups. First, there are the rocks that are associated with God’s creation of the world. Many of the igneous and metamorphic rocks are the foundations of the earth that God initially formed. The sedimentary rocks that sit directly on top of tho-
…and that’s where it cut off. That may have been a good thing, in case it was about to suggest that sedimentary rock is the work of the devil or something ;;_;;
Okay, so I stayed up until about 4am last night. The evening was really fun, but the next few days won’t be… I have a lot of work to do by Friday, and my flatmates are also expecting me to go out tonight to celebrate my birthday. On top of that, I had about 4 hours’ sleep last night, and I’ll be having about the same tomorrow night. I have a headache, I don’t feel great, I’m insanely tired, I can’t work very well (great fun for the test I’ve got coming up in an hour’s time) and I haven’t eaten a proper cooked meal since Monday.
This afternoon, Gamesoc! This evening, an anime showing! Tomorrow, going out with my flatmates! Super fun days!
The downside, though, is with that much time being taken up with celebrating and doing stuff, I have a vast amount of work to do in very little time ^_^; Oh well… can’t be helped I suppose. I wanted to bake a cake today, but I’m not going to have time to do that, either…
(And if you’re wondering about what I’ve got set as my mood for this entry - I don’t know why I feel nervous, I just do.)
Oversleeping for fun. In slightly better news, I got a fair bit of work done today, and also grabbed the Pop’n Music 9 soundtrack from Char (<3!) which I’ve been listening to for most of the day.
That was an absolutely awesome night! It was Steve’s birthday today, and we all went to see Supergrass live at the Guildhall in Southampton. They were absolutely brilliant, and the warmup band - the 22-20’s - were pretty damn good too! All in all, not bad for my first concert ever ^_^ Afterwards, we intended to go to Jesters but seeing the size of the cue we all went to the Hobbit instead (a far better place, IMO). While we were there… DRAMA, I’m afraid. Vicky getting stressed, pints being thrown, and Steve getting very drunk indeed, although the last one’s not necessarily a bad thing!
Now the only annoying thing is, I have to be up in 5 hours’ time… ;;_;;
Okay, so… today!
First off, engineering works on both trains and tubes conspired against Richard (who was paying for me - thanks!! ^_^;) and I getting to LAC in the first place. Once we were there, though, we managed to avoid actually watching any anime, and mostly chatted randomly to people.
Richard went home early, while I stayed in london with Ant. We went to Forbidden planet (which is HUGE), LV (where I passed beethoven Virus on hard mode on the Pump machine), Troc (where I won the prize by failing first stage on Pump Exceed), and then on to Namco where I met Snap (again - he was at LAC too), MAC, Masseuse, and Jester, along with a few other people whose intarwebnet names I don’t remember. Also, I confirmed my suckage at CSFILSM by failing EM2’s normal 2 course again. I also (just) failed Adam’s new scarily hard stepfile, Segersang.
Anyway, enough of the dancing fag games. Today was most excellent! Much fun was had.
And so a second day in a row of being up until 3:30am - less alcohol this time though, and more discussion of theology in general and Wicca specifically. I’m very definitely glad I stayed up for it, I rarely get to have discussions about that kind of thing anymore!
This afternoon, we signed the tenancy agreement for the house! \o/ Also I have a new keyboard, so I can finally actually use my computer again!
…and I’ve added Racheet, Rhiannon and Jodi to my LJ friends list, which I hope is okay and doesn’t make me seem like a crazy stalker or something… ;;_;; To round off today, one of those “small world” moments - Jodi and Ilphi seem to know each other (on LiveJournal, at least)…
Monday: Pretty much nothing of importance.
Tuesday: Nothing important during the day, but played one of the coolest Exalted sessions so far in the evening. My character, Karashi, nearly died by being trapped in a shattering dream - scarily appropriate for a character who’s beginning to resemble Tsuki in pretty much every way.
Wednesday: Met Racheet for the first time, and agreed to look around the house that I’ll hopefully be renting. In the evening, I succeeded in winning the prize. I spilled coffee on my keyboard, and ended up typing without the use of a B, M, P, X, Z, comma or full stop for the rest of the evening. I ended up substituting other characters to vaguely look like the missing ones, and people on #ddruk thought I was trying to be l33t…
Thursday: Went to look around the house in the afternoon… stayed round, listening to music and watching AMVs. Rhiannon, one of Racheet’s friends, came over, and much enjoyment of pizza and alcohol was had. Later we headed off to The Dungeon, which it turns out isn’t quite as scary as it sounds! ^^ Everyone there was really friendly, and I had a great time, although (as always) I was worried that I was too shy and didn’t talk enough… I spent a bit of time dancing (okay, headbanging), quite a while meeting new people, and a fair bit of time talking about anime, roleplaying, martial arts, music, learning Japanese and LiveJournals ^^;; Seems I’m pretty much on the same wavelength as a lot of people there! ^_^ I eventually got back home at 3am, having had one of the best nights out in Southampton I’ve ever had, and having met loads of really great people!
Friday (so far): Woke up at 7:30 (yay, four hours’ sleep ^_^;). Phoned my mum to check whether shes okay about the house, seeing as we’d planned to sign the contracts today. She was surprisingly completely okay about it, considering all the trouble last time I was about to sign house contracts. (She spent far more time in the phone call worrying about people owing me money for next year’s Minamicon, although I don’t know why she’s concerned.)
Anyway, this afternoon we go to sign the contract, and afterwards I go into town to buy a new keyboard and do my long-overdue laundry. What fun… ^_^;
